    Lucinda reports?

Making a short visit,2-3 days fishing, starting this Friday, with a 4.8m tinny in tow. Will be staying at Forrest Beach, so any hints/advice for here or Lucinda would be appreciated.I have limited fishing experience in this area, some 5years since last visit.Main focus would be flicking lures around the snags, but bait and inshore are also options?

    Hi Deefa66,
We have had good results off Hinchinbrook from the outer rock walls (queenies, mackeral), decent crabs on the inside near Rungoo, and fair barra up the top near Cardwell.
I heard there may be some green zones now, as it's been a while.
There used to be a prawn (barra??) farm on the bank. I caught a cracker jack there, but the locals kept it honest i've heard.

There will be an abundance of rubbish (logs, posts, buildings, gravel banks) that may not have been removed/ plotted from the cyclone, so i'd keep a spare prop on board.

I've heard Taylors beach is supposed to be good at the little creek (north of the town). There is some deep water near the beach. However i only fished it once and caught two grass sweeties.

    Hope it helps

    Re: Lucinda reports?

Spent 2 days last week in the channel and caught very little using live green back herring. Worked in areas from the top of boat channel back. No-one reporting good catches of fish or prawns. No run no fun and the water didn't get over 22C. It may be completely different next week. My boat is a reef boat so luring was out. Good luck.

    Re: Lucinda reports?

things were a bit quiet on the last couple of days but should fire up as the tides start to get bigger in the coming week . when luring make sure the lure is getting right into the timber or gutter as near enough is not good enough . try the fishers creek boat ramp to fish the centre of the channel just make sure you can find your way back to the ramp at the end of the day . fish the Benjamin Flats area
IF IT CAN'T EAT A WHOLE PILLY I DON'T WANT IT
