Ok so this is the first one I have put finish on [ scrap piece of blank ] and it looked good , then I put the finish on and took a photo , Hmm not to good , I used A thread , is it better to use C thread ? any advice ,
Yeh Mate
I'm no expert at it and I'm still on a step learning curve...LOL
But looks good for your first attemp.
I found that the more I do of them the better ya get ,I stumble across a couple of things that helped and made it a lot easier
I Hand wrap and on my rod rack I have a friction strap that so that when you do a half turn or so under tension the rod stays there and wont roll back....this helps me when twisting the thread around the thread under tension
Being that you can do a twist the thread ...then roll in on the blank ....and that holds it..plus ya can apply a little tension to the twisting thread to shorten the lenght of the twist after awhile you can do three or so twist at once then turn on blank to hold it in place .....Then when doing the other side of the OB you can easly replicate the other side with the tension thing.......
Gawd sounds complicated ...LOL
At the moment I am in the middle of a build and doing some Olive Branches , and this is the first time I am using a Metalic thread to do the twisting wrap.and Metalic is a lot harder to do than the standard thread ...its a lot stiffer and harder to tension ...and driven me nuts....LOL...But slowly getting my head around it
And I have been using A thread as well...although thinking about using a C thread for the twisting thread over the A thread a see what it looks like for another option
Anyway hope ya can make a bit of sence outa this and will help...
But Mate for Your first crack at one.... LOOKING GOOD
Maybe a couple of the other Guys might be able to Help us out also with a few of there thoughts also
