5 fish per person per day. 3 blokes in the boat = 15 legally-entitled fish.

    Re: bag limits

mattooty you might want to check but I don't believe that it is x fish per person per day. it think you will find x fish per person in possession

    Re: bag limits

Each state has it's own regs, in qld duskies are 5 per person between 40 and 75cm, all in possession limits are per person unless otherwise stated, eg tropical rock lobsters which have a limit of 5 per person or 10 per boat (or 3 and 6 if you are above 14deg south lat)
Don’t take life too seriously, It isn’t permanent

In possession means what you've got at home in the freezer also.

    Re: bag limits

well went to the pin today chasing flathead.
i dont have to worry about bag limits i trolled for hour's to pick up one under size so i tryed drifting with herring still no good ,
i think the nws winds didnt help much.
i also stop on south straddie to have lunch and notice a boat high and dry with the tide going out.
thought to my self he must be up the beach some where and he is going to have bad time when he comes back to his boat .
later meet him at the ramp on the way home, he told me he ran out of fuel and he also said 6 other boat also had done the same thing
the sea tow must make a fortune

Blythy is correct; Flathead is min 40 and max 75cm.

Sorry, you're right. All limits are "In possession" limits. Not that I ever have to worry about that cause I'd have to get out and actually catch a couple.
The only time the possession limit is enforced is if Fisheries have reason to believe you've been flogging stocks and taking your limit several times per day over a course of time. They need a police warrant to enter & search your freezer (or whatever you're storing your stupid amount of fish in) and police in company. (Or so I read here somewhere, once upon a time).
All the best mate, good luck with them. They're starting to come on the chew now.

    Re: bag limits

Just an update on my information from DEEDI.

First, there is a new updated Recreational fishing rules and regulations for Queensland booklet now available.

Just come out at the end of August 2011.

It clearly states all the informatrion we need to know.

    Available from www.deedi.qld.gov.au Phone 13 25 23

I just ordered three booklets. Will get them by Thursday this week.

Another of my pet hates is: this term "Bag Limits".

This term is only misleading and in my opinion should never be used in any context.

"In Possession" should be used and means just that, total.

In your boat, car, van, fridge, freezer, In Possession" at any time.

I cannot understand why DEEDI still insist on using misleading terminology, "Bag Limits".

As for fish sizes, the new Brief Guides are quite clear and easily understood.

All this info. is freely available on their web site.

    Have lots of fun Haji-Baba
