yeah i have had people help me out more times than i have had grumpy ignorance and its very much appreciated and good to see. i guess most of t he people who use dedicated boat ramp pontoons are pretty good, but yeah some have no idea.

You can get a pretty poor element fishing from the pontoons sometimes, but like all humans they will generally respond to the way they are being treated themselves.
As much as they pi$$ me off not moving, I always make the coming alongside intention very obvious and definite (you've got to take ownership of the berthing space), by calling it out on approach, then ask if they are catching anything during the tie up process.
It seems to calm them down acting in a friendly sort of way, and takes the sting out of the aggressive ones.
As said before, watch the groups of early 20 year old blokes with cartons of cans around.

The knobs around Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast piss me right off... the ramps there do not have mooring facilities or anything and sure as eggs that 15 foot of sand to the side of the ramp is full of tossers with jet skis who are sitting back having a feed of red rooster and staring at their toys which are parked right in the middle... and generally they have the missus and 5 kids in that nice sandy part also... usually you can hear the tossers muttering under their breath about boats being too close to the kids swimming and how the boats scare the fish etc.... the other week there was an old tosser on the ramp with a deck chair and all his gear all set up fishing off the ramp... on a Sunday afternoon when there is 50 boats trying to use the ramp at the same time... these people just need to be flogged! grr
