I just use $10 aldi braid, Does the job
Powerpro for spin
Tuff for bait caster
Varvias for GTs
I'm using Mojiko at the moment. Find it doesnt twist or become "furry" like some other cheaper braids.
Cheers

Any 8 ply weave is better as it is rounder. In windy situations a stiffer line like fireline

I honestly don't feel that there is such an animal as a good all round braid - some work better on spin others better on baitcast - some are better in light applications and others better in heavy.
If I look at my reel collection - there would be 8 different brands / types on 15 outfits ....... but I will break it down on my current preferences
Spin (< 10lb) Berkley nanofil (10-30lb) Daiwa Samurai or Suffix 832
Baitcast (< 20lb ) Nitlon (20-30lb) Suffix 832 (40lb) Nitlon (50lb) Sunline super PE
Fly line backing Bionic
Certainly a mixed bunch ........

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
Teach him how to fish

Another power-pro (shimano) fan, I've also been using it in the surf, as well as in the boat, and have been pleased with it's durability. Well priced in the US.
For light spin work (10 lb or under) I would opt for one of the fused braids or nanofil, simply because they are much less prone to tip wrapping than true braids whilst working light plastics or lures. For heavier spin I would be looking at a true braid for that little extra sensitivity and lack of coiling that is present in fused lines or nanofil.
For baitcaster work or overheads I like 8 braids for the rounder profile or Berkley Spiderwire. These tend not to bury when the going gets fiery.
Price is not an indicator of quality.......I have about 25 reels spooled with braids or fused lines atm. Nitlon is probably the most common but not cheap, Hawk braid is a good mid range braid that cheap and honest. Remington braids last very well and are a 6 braid but still quite good, very very limp though. Fins is like rope, but still a good line, Powerpro is another 6 braid that nice to use but suffers tip wrap in the 5lb a bit much. Nanofil is going well so far in 6lb with few problems and very nice to use, bit coily however, hopefully that will soon dissappear.
Fireline is coily as hell new but settles after an hour or so good hard use.
Probaly more important than your braid is the leader you choose, lots of variants and very few that are well suited to being a leader.
Whatever you do, make sure the rod and reel combination is really really comfortable, being heavy is not an advantage and using broomsticks aint fun either. If you feel the combo isnt quite right, don't buy it thinking it will do, find that right one before you buy.

I use power pro on my 4lb -50lb gear and tuffline above that. I will say though that power pro does not like any abrasive conditions, so long leaders or other types would be needed in such conditions. I have used Fins(30-50lb) and fireline (in sub 10lb range) and both are ok.
I must admit that the last time I did a major respool on all my gear, I priced my options and was floored at the expected costs, so looked at the US as an option. It ended up being so much cheaper that I could go past it - A$80 landed for a 1500yd spool of 50lb power pro.
