You lucky bastard. Makes the old deck winches look pretty ordinary.
Mate well done
can I give you a bit of advice in regards to you new toy.
Make sure that the reel is kept dry of salt water as they are not waterproof even to a splash of salt water and if they do get wet then ensure you at least get it serviced every 6 months if used regulary or every 12 months if used irregularly
Well done

Rodz & Reelz Repairs
just made up some state of the art deep drop sinkers ,there design is under strick patent and copy right laws ,so dont anyone copy themthey weigh in at 5.4 kg which hopefully will get me too the bottom quick enough, they put a nice curve in the rod
Long and skinny is best on the deep drop mate. Maybe some bigger red bull cans are the go.
They might even help you get those bigguns up from the depths LOL

HEAD DOWN BUM UP!
hey. ive already patented those ones. i used beer cans tho. i still think thats infringement. wheres my royalties?
fishing's as simple as 3 P's - patience, perserverance and PLASTIC!
too funny,a mate told me to get some 1 inch re bar,and cut it in 2 ft lengths,he ties it to the rig with 6lb mono and hopefully when the fish bites it breaks off and he doesnt have to lift it back up,sounds like a good idea.
now you got an electric winch, unless you was planning on building your own arty wouldn't you want your weight back for the next drop?
fishing's as simple as 3 P's - patience, perserverance and PLASTIC!
Use the mono on the weight as a breakaway so if the sinker catches the reef bottom and you don't get it off the bottom quick enough you don't leve $300 of braid by having to cut it off. If it comes up wth the fish - no worries - not like you are winding or anything!! If teh fish shakes it off -no worries teh fish is obviously big enough to justify teh weight.
We found cans tumbled and twisted up bait rig and had a lot more resistance than old gas pipe filled with lead ( expensive) or sash weights.
Keep a eye on heat at any plug fittings and wires from reel to boat to ensure you have a good connection
Old stuffed Stanless prop shafts cut up with a loop or washer welded on them work a treat and can be left on the boat and not be a rusty mass. Mate uses old anchor chain and works for him as it doesn't spin on the way down.
