New Garmin gps. But which one?

Looking to get a new GPS, and have had Garmin in the past so swaying that way. But trying to work out which one is the hard part. I already have a Furuno 620 sounder, so I don't need a combo. Just a gps. Looking in the $1,000.00 - $1,200.00 range, and an easy to read screen (meaning big font is good).

Something around a 6" screen should be big enough. I see that there are touch screen models around. But not fussed about that. Would prefer a bigger screen for less money if it came to choice.

Most of my fishing I already know exactly where I am going, meaning I don't spend hours sounding around or navigating tight areas.

I have also noticed on some of the threads that US is an option. I would be happy to do that if it is a big enough saving, but a good price locally then don't mind spending a couple of hundred extra.

    What do you suggest?

Or should I just bite the bullet and get a Garmin GPSMAP 750. Price is around $1600.00

I have a 4010 and wonder how I ever did without it. Bought mine locally a couple of months ago for $2249.

Thanks guys. Just needed that extra push. Followed Vatiamin Sea's info and when to the boat show today and did the same deal on the 750 for $1500.00. Appreciate your assistance.

when I got my 750 I was skeptical about the touch creen thing too, but I have had mine for ages now and just love it, easy to use, good screen, almost everything about it is good, however there is one trap for the first time touch screen user, if you get a spot of water on the screen DO NOT try to wipe it off, what you are doing (sort of) is touching all over the screen at the same time, the unit goes haywire for a minute and pisses you off!. (well it pissed me off)

Now I need to load my marks. The manual says to copy to an SD card. Are these standard? ie, do I just pick one up from Dick Smith? Nothing in there as to the format/fields.

yep Dick Smith, get a cheap card reader and get a 2 Gig SD card,,, and you will need to download a copy of Homeport as well from the net,
when transferring back from Homeport to the plotter it needs to be in a certain format ( depends on how you export from Homeport) to be read by the 750S, ill look at that tonight and PM you,

The home port forum is also good with direct access to the developers. This interesting post will get you there ... https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=19511
