I have seen on a number of posts in the general and saltwater forums that "snot" weed is rife in the river systems SE QLD (Pine, Pumicetone passage etc) and has been for the past few weeks..
I was just curious as whether or not the "snot/slime" weed has any detremental impact on the water cooling system of the motor.
Given that it is so prevalant in the rivers, I assume that particles of the weed would gather (when anchored) on the leg and around water intake and be sucked into the motor when started.
Even when travelling I would expect particles of the weed to be in the water therefore sucked in by the motor's impeller.
As I said - I am just curious and I don't know if I am correct with my assumptions, and whether this "weed" could affect the motor or internal parts in any way in the short or long term.
I would reckon it would just get minced up and go through the motor without any bad problems, maybe if it was continually used and left to dry without flushing it MIGHT build up in a little corner somewhere.
