560c Bar Crusher "Overtime"
Is that about 2 km/ litre? My 90 Opti gets about 2.5km/L overall on a 5 m fibreglass runabout.
Blusta, very, very close. 2km/L = 0.93 l/nm. Cheers Winston.
hey winston what prop are you running and do you know the weight of your rig?
i just fitted a 140hp suzi to my signature 550br and am runnning a suzi alloy 14 x 19p that gives me great holeshot and tops out at 69kmh flat-out pulling just over 6350rpm with a bit more left on the throttle so im going to try a 14 x 21p hopefully this week and knock the revs down to 6150ish.
very impressed so far it has more punch especially midrange than my old 2 stroke 140 and the noisiest thing is the trim/tilt unit. kids love coming out on the boat now (and so does the wifey)
cheers ryan
Swanie, boat is 600 kg, prop is 14x19 alloy and top speed is 34 knots (64 kph) @ 6000 rpm. The boat is a half cabin and has large windage especially with the bimini.Attachment 70685Cheers Winston.
why is everyone so down on ETEC's ?? i'm pretty new to boating and cant seem to understand how they get such a bashing yet every 2nd boat seems to have one ?
I get roughly 2km per litre in my 90 etec on the back of a stabicraft frontier 529. This isnt the most fuel efficient hull going around and it isnt the lightest of builds.
It reallly doesnt mater what the conditions or how heavy i load this boat up for 2-3 day trips with like 100kg of ice 60kg of bait and 200l of fuel, 3 blokes and enough gear to
restock ######## Iam quite happy with the 700 hours its punched out now and these days i dont think it matters what brand you get they are all pretty good.
A lot of ETECs have been sold on the back of their claims / advertising & sponsorship of high profile personalities.
On paper their specifications look great .......... but they suffer from continued & a disproportionate amount of reliability issues.
I feel that with their in your face advertising - ETECs have become the Anthony Mundine of the boating world you either love them or hate them .

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

yhea fair call i guess, people have experiences and have to make desisions based on them, but maybe part to blam is the boat dealers selling way underpowered boat packages to the unaware customer ?
I recently bought myself a whittley clearwater 1750 standard it came with a 90hp the dealer had said to me "thats plenty" however every reveiw I had seen said other wise ! In the end I had the biggest motor
possible fitted to her, I wonder the longevity of any undersized motor on any boat ? Is this a practice that should be closly whatched ??
cheers sean
up to a point it is true, a low HP motor will not be indeal for a bigger boat, however, if it is setup right, it will last just as long as a bigger motor (maybe) but the boat will be slow and unresponsive to drive, the right power is the way to go, not necessarily the max recomended, but the right HP, some boat will perform great with (say) a 150, but be a pig with a 200, or slow as a wet week with a 115 or 90, that is where an informed dealer should help you out.
