I have a Navman 4500 and the screen display just showed white screen (on white pallette)Also had the water temp showing though. Then later went for a run up the river and it showed bottom at 25 kph.Back at rest, no reading and I could not feel the pulse under the transducer like when I first got it.Put the unit back to factory settings and still no good, but depth was reading 2500 feet in the river, could this be a stuffed transducer or the head unit dying ?
Cheers

Reason: extra info
Giffo can you hear an audible tick from the transducer when out of the water? If you've gone back to factory settings there may be a problem. But check your sonar cable to make sure nothing has pinched it and inspect the transducer to be sure it is at the correct angle and nothing has hit it and damaged it.Also make sure gain is set correctly and eliminate any electrical noise that may be causing the unit to freak out.If all is as it should be might be time to pull out the wallet.Touch wood,i've got a 6500 Trackfish..Good luck.Jim

I will check the sonar cable, and disconnect all other electrical stuff in the boat in the morning.Bugger, I will have to water test it(with rods),lucky I am going on to night shift tomorrow. The Transducer is same angle and no damage,I actually put it back to factory settings to try to get it to work out on the water the other day, also played with the gain and no joy.I just went down the shed to the boat, and there is no tic(audible or felt) from the transducer when turned on.Oh well ,start saving the pennies,a new H,bird down image or Lowrance structure scan would be nice if I can't fix the problem.
Giffo,One other thing to check is the collar is done up and engaged properly on the sonar cable.Try some Contact Cleaner on the pins in the cable plug.Jim
