    mike -

is the 1-2cm you refer to observed in your wheel or the actual steel cable coming out from the helm?

G'day Splash. My helm and cable is Teleflex about 12 mths old. It would have the same amount of movement of the cable where it comes out of the helm. I don't know how your cable attaches at the rear of the boat but mine has a large nut that screws onto a pivot and tube arrangement then attaches directly to the outboard, it does not go thru the pivot tube. Have you checked to see if the nut at the rear is screwed all the way home and the cable is pulled up tight, that is, not sloppy in the nut. Mine has actually worked it way loose and presto, instant left turn. Apart from that, the best suggestion I can make is get a mate or somebody to have a look with you.
    Regards. Bob.

    thanks bob.

can u post a pic of your setup?

which nut are you referring to (port or starboard) that could lead to sloppliness in the cable?

Have a look at the right hand pic that Fed put up on post 33. You can see the nut that holds the cable to the tilt tube. Is the nut done up correctly and the outer cable housing firmly attached? Not able to be moved in or out or loose. Is the link on the other end, that connects to the motor ok? My set up is different, it doesn't go thru the tilt tube.
    Cheers.
    Bob.

5 mm is more like what I'd expect with a new cable.

lol - I tried to hide (under the helm), but they sniffed me out (or followed the crumbs right into the boat!)
