Can I have my cake and eat it too??

I need a new spinning reel after my 20+yr old baitrunner 6500 just died. I will be fishing our yearly 8 kg game fishing tournament in late october but after the tournament want to swap lines and use the outfit for bottom fishing for reds, nannygai, trout etc. 50lb braid should be heaps. So...the stella and saltigas of this world are great for fishing heavy braids with heavy drags but...can they fish 8 kg mono with 2.3kg of drag ???

2.3 kgs of drag might seem light ..... that is till you try lifting 2.3kgs through the rod
Yes those stellas & saltigas will go down that low - no dramas

Isn't there 8kg IGFA rated braids out there? I wouldn't run mono on a spinning real for game fish (not that I know jack about billies) just in case I hooked a larger than expected fish and needed the line capacity. Overheads are fine because they hold so much line but a spinning outfit with 8kg braid should hold enough.

You would have to go for something like a Stella 10 000 with a 20 000 spool to get enough capacity on a spinning reel i would think, if you go overhead as mentioned it would not be as much of an issue. A Shimano Torsa 20, 30 or 40 would be perfect as the standard cam would be perfect for bottom bashing then you could get a LLS 6lb or 12lb or 20lb Sailfish Special Cam to suit your trolling needs when using 8kg mono Torsa 20 will hold 374m of 9kg mono according to the specs.
