Thread: how do I fix this and what is it ?

how do I fix this and what is it ?

I had to re-install all drivers when a new motherboard was installed.

I could not read any PDF's.

Installed Adobe Reader but when I try to open PDF's this message comes up.

" The procudure entry point GETProcessId could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL 32.dll. "

I searched the web but everyone there wants to charge me $'s just to sort errors.

    Help.......................

it sounds like you need the full version of Acrobat, not just reader, I will ask someone at work to see if they know the full answer, back in 10 mins, mind you, a mother board change should not have any affect on apps.

Phill, uninstall Acrobat Reader and reboot, then install the acrobat reader that comes with the motherboard drivers disc, it will be compatible with your mobo.
Your old version may not be esp if the new mobo is 64 bit.
You should have no problems after that.

I installed the latest version... reader 10.1.0 today as there was no Adobe Reader on the puter.

I cannot even open Adobe Reader as the message ( as described in the first post ) comes up.

    I cannot even un-install Reader............

    OK.

    Thanks Tuna.

    I eventually un-installed adobe 10.1.0.

    I even un-installed other crap.

Installed Adobe Reader from MoBo disc... and I can actually open a PDF...

Now, to see if the other problem still exists.... when I go to change Identities in Outlook Express, I choose a name and click on OK, then I loose Otlook Express altogether and have to restart my computer to get it to open again...............

get rid of outlook express Phill..mine went haywire last weekend..could not even repair itself. I downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird..far better and easier to use. Thankfully it transferred all the emails over from outlook.

Phill, did you replace the old mobo with an identical mobo or a newer version or diff brand?
Mobos change so much between versions, you could well find you may have to reinstall Windows to sort some of the problems out.
What version of windows are you running?

    Uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer.
Or just reinstall the new version.
Might help with the outlook problem.

Also I think windows XP needs service pack 3 these days, as most of the software is moving towards window 7.

Simply uninstall all the bogus programs, install service pack 3, reboot the reinstall the programs you was having issues with.

Sounds easy, but not having any discs to re-install programs is a problem.

I also don't use Internet Explorer.... I use Mozilla Firfox.

Thanks........... I'll get throught it and ask questions when I am stuck again.

Phill, just use the Automatic Update in Windows, that will bring in the service pack 3 plus all the patches required to stabilise XP. Best to set it to do the updates overnight as there might be quite a few that it will work through.
