Thumbs up Overnighter in the bay

    Hi all
just a quick post after an overnighter in the bay wednesday night.Took my oldest boy Jake and a good mate Justin for a fish.Started off in the eastern bay chasing a few whiting to get things started. We stopped at 44 whiting as we had a long night ahead and plenty more fish to catch.Weed is still a bit of a problem but there is plenty of fish still there, picked up a couple of pike for bait and off to chase some snapper.Over to harries for a quick fish and managed only one lagal squire.Headed into 30feet of water near the bay islands and landed a nice squire around the 59cm mark on live pike.Got busted up on the other 2 rods all at the same time and the fish went off the bite.Plan was now to go in a bit shallower and cook up a feed and chase some bream. As soon as we pulled up the bream didn;t play the game straight away, but we had a lot of fun catching squire that were measuring all around the 33/34cm mark, not legal but alot of fun.Had a feed and tried a few more places of interest with just one more legal squire.Back to spot x and anchored up for the night. The boys were tired so off to sleep they went with a few comments from me calling them weak as piss[10pm]HMMM boat to myself now and time to get serious, started off with 2 rods and ended up fishing with just 1 as fish were coming aboard everywhere.I managed to get a feed of tailor as well.Little bit of burley goes a long way.As the night went on I managed to get busted off countless times by late running freight trains that were not stopping for anything, the ledge I fish doesn't really help either.Woke the boys at 4am and had a fantastic little session on the breambos before heading home.Final tally was 44 whiting,18 bream,5 tailor, and 5 squire.Everyone had a great time with smiley faces all around.Home and cleaned fish and boat having a beer by 11am
    Cheers

Excellent mate. My boys are due an overnighter again soon. Thinking of mooring near the reef at Peel overnight and making a nice burley trail. Anyone done that with any luck.

    Cheers
