    Hervey Bay Bream & Flatties

Winter in the bay doesn't just mean fantastic snapper fishing - we also have some great bream & flatty fishing to enjoy ......

The fished our first spot under the watchful eye of the resident dingo - beautiful dog .....

We had 10 nice bream in the well in the first hour - sorry about the photo - bumped the program button We actually had to release them half way through the day as we couldn't fit any more in the well , with over 20 landed at that stage ..........

I switched from 100m Squidgy wrigglers ( bloodworm & larvae ) to Bushy's Devil fish out on the flats due to the wind making it difficult to stay in touch with the wrigglers - nailing some great fish including this beautiful diamond

As the tide dropped out (0.37 Low ) we had a fantastic flatty bite with both Brett & myself landing over 20 quality fish in a few hours

Brett fished 80mm Squidgy fish - while I stuck with the Devil fish vibes .......

It was a great day in good company with Brett & I landing in excess of 50 quality fish for the day - How Good Is Hervey Bay

    So many fish - Scotto

Gday scott, im very very jealous, well done, im wondering how you find the catch rate of the vibes compared to soft plastics on flathead?.

Millsy & Allycat - I have only just started using the vibes & been surprised how well they fish & the variety of fish that eat them. Brett was getting more bites on the flatties using the 80mm Squidgy fish in silver fox - but I was getting more variety including some quality flathead.

You can also fish the vibes more effectively than plastics in a bit of breeze when it is hard to detect bites due to the belly in your line on the drop all the time - the fish just nail the vibes like a reaction bait

I'll be using the devil fish more often - Scotto

great bream and flatty session!! the flatty are great fun up there, we were up 3 weeks ago playing around river heads just drifting the banks flicking hard bodies and sp's.. might be back up there soon with my son chasing the flatties again.

Well done Scott, those flatties blend into that livewell! Good looking catch there. We are back in September, hoping for a bit of that sort of action.

    Cheers,

hey mate whats the tides like up around River Heads? I planning on going up in the next few weeks but will be fishing out of a kayak. Will I have to take an anchor with me or is the tide slow enough to drift the banks?
Also can you recommend an eastury fishing guide up around the River Heads region?

    Thanks in advance!
    Nick
