There are hundreds of rods to choose from in that price range that will do an excellent job. I am unsure if you lean toward a particular manufacturer or not and your likes and dislikes in a rod but you are right to consider the fine line between light and ultra light. For a general purpose rod i would choose a 2-4KG rod; read carefully their stated weights that they can throw comfortably. Many rods of 2-4KG can throw 1-7 grams some 1-9 grams which will encompass everything except some heavier plastics and larger hard-bodied vibe lures. I would be more comfortable using a 6LB main line than 4LB but that is your preference. If you want 4LB mainline perhaps then consider the 1-3KG rods. The T curve vibe spin falls in the 2-4KG category with the extra length giving a definite casting advantage; you should have change from $300. Have a good look around first there are just so many good rods targeting this light weight range at the moment it is ridiculous.
