With my boat on a hard stand for a week or so, I have been chucking a few lines in from my pontoon and getting some great fish, not heaps but three to four a day off set lines and prawns.

Average 1 to 2 kgs each and great pan size. I keep them alive in an old crab pot with ends closed off and the critters swim round apply for up to a week.

I keep them frisky by dragging a scaler or a knife over the wire mesh or toss in one of their predeceased brothers frames from the day before. scares the living begeezus outa them and keeps them fit and active!

I'm not a real sweetie lover but these guys are great in egg and
breadcrumbs cooked fresh within minutes after being put to the sword.

The trevally come in with the schools of deep sea mullet and fall victim to a blue pilly slug. Top eating if bled and filleted on the spot. Seems a lot of
sick ones with white spotty fins that stay under the pontoon and can be almost picked up by hand, easy in a landing net though wouldn't risking
them. Bit like those salmon you see pics off in Canada before they croak.

Strangely enuf they are on the chew out in the middle over metres of slimy mud, no coral anywhere out there.

Get busted off pretty often at night on a 10 kg line but most likely the monster eels that thrive in the canals.
