    Question Cross over boat

    Hi All

    Just a question ( hypothetical ) on a new boat .

What is available in the way of a boat that can be used for luring in the estuaries ( or dams) but also have the ability to get out in the bay and deal with the unfriendly chop of Moreton Bay ( anchoring if need be)
4.5 - 5M .... Side console (possible centre) with a good forward and aft casting deck (plate / pressed or possibly even glass) - A big donk would not go astray....... fast is good if I needed a long run up a river.

anyhoos - I know you guys would have some ideas on brands & models to look at

Quintrex 460 Renegade come in either side or centre what ever you want, optioned with a 60HP Merc 4 stroke they come in low 20's depending on options and if you want paint. My cousin had a 460 dory same plan shape but has now got the millennium hull etc, i priced one for my old man last week, really nice looking boat. I saw it in the club marine magazine and price came from Tweed Coast marine

That frenzy 500 I had (or a 470) would have been pretty good mate. Hard to come by though now for the right price. Something in that style would go good. Knowing you, it would have to be a quality species. Your fishing/travel schedule and locations would probably wreck most of the 'mum and dad' family package type boats. I reckon the boat you have is good enough, certainly reliable and can handle rough.

    Stavros

PS: mate, going up to that creek off curtis, I was fine...very wet (some in my pants), but felt safe...going over the bar into the creek blind..yes.....the 'knowing what to expect' for the trip home in 25knts...that sucked!! ..but we are here now...never f%$king again though!!!

Nah ..... the hornet is a fantastic closed waters boat - very stable fishing platform for 2 or 3 anglers ......... but it just cannot handle swell - Living in Brissy I have the option to head out into the bay or go further afield............. my fishing opportunities have changed

Mate ..... you would never have known it - but yeh , I was on my edge as I had to make the decision ........ That was the start of my thoughts of a new hull! ( repropped the boat goes well now) - I reckon I need a sea worthy hull now to push those boundaries further!

    Re: Cross over boat

I posed the same question to myself a few months back sold my 4mtr and my 21fter so I wanted a cross over boat.
smaller enough for the creek, wife to hold, single axle, easy to move in the shed
big enough for the islands on a good day, chase tuna and macs, room for 3yo to move(in creek) .
had to be easy to clean, 60kph+, strong, cut through the chop.

so I went with a 5mtr side console hooker with a 75hp, also looked at the 485 sig

Just to about to get my new 460 Origin with 60 4 stoke, full plate boat, self draining decks, foam filled, big chines, kill tanks etc. I expect that it will do the job well for creek and bay work.
    Cheers - Craig
