Removing an LPG sytem.

I have a 100 series V8 petrol which i had converted to lpg a couple of years ago,it has never ran right from the start and no one where i live now can sort it out without wanting to spend a small fortune trying diffrent replacement parts.

I am at my wits end with the thing and i am seriously considering removing the lpg and fitting up a longranger 125ltr tank and be done with it.

The main issue with the thing is that it won't idle properly or at all sometimes.

The converter is a Landi non adjustable type.when i bought the system i was told it was the most reliable one avaliable as it can't lean out or freeze up due to its design.........well so far in my eyes its been a piece of crap and lpg for me is only usable on the highway as around town the vehicle will constantly stall....its an auto so theres no chance of keeping the revs up a little to keep it running.

I virtually have to run it on petrol all the time exept hwy driving.

I think i've learned another hard lesson here and have wasted a couple of grand in the process.

So if anyone outthere knows anything about how to fix them i'm open to suggestion.

whereabouts are you? gas can be fiddly and usually requires a re-tune every so often to keep getting best results - not that youve ever got good running by the sound of it! who did your original install?

I'm in Darwin and when i lived in QLD a few years ago a mob in Cairns fitted it........and to their debt they have never been helpfull since i parted with my cash.

Problem is here theres only one place in town that deals with LPG and because they never did the install they don't wanna touch it unless they fit their preffered brand/type of system............got me by the curly's.

bugger! you can either bite the bullet and get them to change over the regulator and neccesary gear (tank and wiring will be ok) or pull the tank and lines out and run on petrol being careful not to touch the wiring unless you know what you are doing - but then you might need to tow a tanker behind you

had quite a few conversions but my latest car on gas is an ss for 5 years no issues yet. good luck either way

Surely the place the size of Cairns has more than one licensed LPG mechanic.

Removing would have to be the last resort, is a couple of days R & R out of the question in Townsville and maybe find someone down there ?.

Just seems an awful lot of waste money to remove it.

I'm sure the gas mob in town would remove it for you, even if not a unit they want to work on.
I've just spent a grand chasing down the gas issues in my tow vehicle, it was on its last chop, if they had not fixed it last time I to was going to stop using the gas.

You can always try tuning it yourself. Its very simple, particularly if only an idle issue.

it sounds like the idle needs adjusting up, most modern cars the idle is not adjustable (or not supposed to be adjusted) on petrol, but it must be adjusted on gas.

Other important think is your intake system, is it standard and is it in good condition. Both very important for a gas system.

Mine is supposedly the non adjustable type it gets plugged into a diagnostic program and then adjusted via the program.
the mech here in Darwin deals in a different type so has no program or cable/dongle to hook it in...........the last time it went there running and came back not running.....they dicked with the wiring and changed some wires around..........I had to undo their playing and find out wtf they had done to it.........they are cowboys thats why i won't take it back there.



I think its time to remove the system i'm over it and never again.

Sounds like a closed loop system, yep need the relevant software and someone experienced with it to do the job properly.
