    Are green zones on Ipad

Hi everyone, i searched thru all the posts i could find but could not find a definite answer. I have the Apple 32G Ipad wifi 3g model, have installed Navionics Australia HD Version: 5.0.4 which i find excellent but unsure if the green zones are there. There are plenty of green shaded areas but don't think these are the green zones. Any advice appreciated, thanks terry

    Hi Terry,
Can't answer you, yet, but have the same I pad, and wondering if the navionics app is worth the dough?

In Moreton Bay the zones are not shaded but have purple zone lines and a name. Not as good as shading but at least they are there.

Have had the navionics app for a while i reckon it is great, almost does away with a plotter, just got the last upgrade for my App yesterday, apparently they are now starting a new Navionics Application with a wave on the front which will continue to be upgraded but supercedes the current App. There is no discount for existing navionic app holders to get the new app, so you will be buying at the right time. Still need to find out about the green zones. on the boat i have a Lowrance LCX-15CI which uses the classic cards only and to get the green zones on it would means i have to replace my whole Lowrance unit for a new HDS model, hence why i am hoping for green zones on the Ipad

I dont mean to sound basic, but have you tried putting the corners of the zones in as waypoints then joining them as a route?
its painful but better than getting a new plotter for no other reason.

Re: Are green zones on Ipad

Hi Brendan, thanks for the suggestion i have been pricing a stand alone gps plotter, and $$wise am quickly drawing to your conclusion, maybe entering in the points on the Lowrance even though tedious maybe the way to go. I don't think i can do that on the ipad. i liked the Ipad idea as this leaves the Lowrance free for sounder duty only, plus the Ipad looks brilliant. If the green zones on the Ipad are shown by the purple lines then they are not easily identified, as the purple lines seem to be used for other things as well, i am still learning,
    thanks terry

Thanks Greg, I now see what you mean, found the marine park green areas (on the Ipad) in moreton bay surrounded with purple lines, the confusing bit is that the yellow conservation zones also seem to be enclosed with the same purple lines, but at least they are there as you said. many thanks

Yeah Terry I did this on the Raymarine when the zones first came in. They certainly show up a lot brighter and bolder than the zones that came with the card eg GBRMarine zones which are skinny pink lines.
It will keep you amused for a few hours but much cheaper than a new unit.
