How do you hook up DF60A to HDS-5
Hi,
How do I hook up my Suzuki DF60A to my HDS-5, What cables do I need, Wear do I get them?
Any help would be good.

You'll need a Suzuki engine interface cable, and will need to connect that and the HDS to a NMEA 2000 network. To create the network the cheapest way is to buy a Lowrance NMEA 2000 starter kit (BIAS have them locally - about $60 or so) as it has most of the bits you will need, and far cheaper than buying the parts separately.
If you want the Suzuki analogue gaugues to continue to work (which you DO for warranty reasons), you will need to make up an adapter cable so that you can connect the interface cable to the diagnostic port on the engine (the plug where the mechanic plugs their laptop into when they service your engine). Get the plugs you need:

What year is your Suzuki? If it is a recent year it should be NMEA 2000 compatible and this will all work. Check with Suzuki if you like to make sure your model will work on the NMEA 2000 network.
If you like, PM me and I'll send you an article that I wrote for Australian F&B magazine that tells you exactly how this all works and how to set it up.
You can get the interface cable from Suzuki locally and also from Brownspoint Suzuki in the US for under $100 - this is the part you will need: http://store.brownspoint.com/detail....id=990C0-88134. It should come with a network T piece so you can add it to the network. Not sure how much Suzuki here charge for them - think I saw one advertised here on Ausfish for $190. I dont think postage will cost you that much from the USA.... Brownspoint are good to deal with, if you email them and ask about stock etc they respond quickly. I got my stuff from them.
Cheers

Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....
