Mercruicer Service

Hi Gents,

My Mercruiser 260 MPI Sea Core Bravo is due for its first yearly service.
I am happy to take it back to the dealer who installed it.
But if there is someone Mobile who can do the service without voiding warranty I would like to give them the work.
I also have 30 and 40 hp outboards they could also look at.

Im on the north side of Brisbane but work at the Port of Brisbane so either location suits me.

Hey Bull, why wouldn't you just build up a relationship with the dealer you bought the motor off? To be honest, I reckon you'd have to have rocks in your head not to. For example, if they installed it and then serviced it they be extremely likely to help you out ASAP if absolutely anything ever went pear shaped, however if you got a mobile guy who isn't Mercruiser certified and then something went wrong then who knows what might happen.

If you live on the northside and maybe bought your motor on the northside from where I think you may have bought it from, then their prices are very reasonable anyway, as we get our mercruiser serviced there, it's just a pain in the butt towing the boat there when we want it done, but you drive past there every day.

You raised a very good point and I think i will take it to the dealer for the amount I use the boat I only get 1 service per year.

That's exactly our call too easyrider, when we had an outboard we used to use wade weimers (who is a pretty good outboard techo), but once we got the stern drive he recommended going to northside marine and we've been very happy with them. i guess there's a reason they've been around for so long when others have gone down hey.

Yes Paddles I have been useing nortside for a quite a few years and I have tried a couple of only through convenience either close to where I was working or me leaving it too late and needing it done in a hurry. Both times it cost me time and money through bullshit and lack of knowledge.

Good point easyrider, a proper knowledgeable sterndrive techy is a valuable commodity, especially for folks who own older outfits. The classic blue is getting the local motor vehicle mechanic to 'work on it'. Leave it to those who know!
