    Nissan fuel consumption

    Hi All
I have a 2004 nissan patrol 3 litre diesel automatic. I have recently purchased this vehicle and on a trip to gladstone towing a 21 foot boat i only got about 600 kilometers out of both tanks. I have also recorded that driving to and from work each week, mostly highway travel that i only get about 800 klms out of both tanks. Is this consumption high or am i expecting to much.

    Mate,
I have a Patrol the same as yours . Mine gets approximately 1200 KLMS out of both tanks . That is not towing anything .

Not sure how much the auto effects mileage, but the manual driven steady at highway speed returns approx. 10 litres per hundred K's and 15 with the boat. Do you find the auto box constantly searching for gears?

How many ks on the clock?
Have the injectors and the pump been checked recently?
    What weight is the boat?
Could be a bit of a load for that motor but the unladen figures may be food for thought.
My son complains about his 2.8's fuel consumption but he drives it like a petrol vehicle.........lol.

Probably better to do a ltrs / 100k scenario, rather than a ' tank ".

My ex used to say she got 700k's out of a tank, well my old Nissan got over 1100, but it had a 135ltr tank. I told her.. size matters .

    just my thoughts.....

Those figures sound sensational for a Nissan ............

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

    Hay Streaker ,
What's the capacity of both your tanks so we can get some idear on how many K's per Liter or Liters per 100 Kms your distance travelled works out to.

They are a great motor vehicle, but don't drive them like a sports car, just that little less on the throttle will bring you into the sensational range
