That rig would be fine to take over on a good day. I've left from margate beach to go to mud island before in a 4.2m with a 40hp. Just make sure you have spare fuel and pick a day with a forecast under 15kts. Anything over that makes a wet and uncomfortable trip home.
Dave.
Geez, a 30hp 4 stroke? If my brother runs his 2 stroke merc 40hp from Manly, mud and back using somewhere less than 10 litres, a 20 ltr can will have you around the entire bay twice with your 4s. Fuel should be fine if you have a 20 ltr can, wind strength and direction of wind will be the decider for you.

thanks dave how long does it take from margate
Best to go from either Shorncliffe or the ramp at Clontarf
Its 17km from there (Clontarf) and its protected from all winds. Margate ramp would be terrible to launch and retrieve if you have Sth east or NE, as its straight on to the beach.
Mud is about 12km from Shorncliffe.

Mate north- south- east you can fish that close to the shore you could cast to it, the western side is the shallowellest.
Have a look at another post below that'll give you some ideas as what to target and where.
