hi guys i am pretty new to goin off shore and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to donate some crappy gps marks off of caloundra, im looking to head out to 5,9 and 12 mile n dont want to travel all the way out n have no idea where some reef is...
any help at all will be much appreciated,
Brenno,
Go into one of your friendly local tackle stores and you can buy a book with generic gps marks in it. It will give you a starting point for those spots and then as you motor around you will start to find your own.
Mind you they are not all that helpful... I recently spent over an hour driving around in circles looking for a reef only to find that it was about 1km away from the points.. I am all for not sharing spot X with you in a publication but at least put you in the general area. pfft
I would like to get the GPS points for the wreck off the sunny coast.. not the HMAS Brisbane but there is one that is fishable but I just don't know where it is ??
yer i did the same thing n well im happy to sound around n find my own but last time i went out i couldnt even find the reef where the mark said it was, complet waste of time, i did get marks off my mate but there all further than a want to travel, in those marks im pretty sure that there is a wreck marked just north of morton, im yet to go there myself though as i dont want to travel the distance...
really though any help would be great, i just dont overly trust those books...
brenno i have just moved away from sunny coast after 20yrs mate will lookthrough my books and give you a few of my secreet spots in close mate. i dont go for the idea of keeping spots secret cause it still takes tides and moons to make sure the fish are there. will try and get back o you on wekend mate away from my records. easy starter is to head for blinker then head SE and lok for boats a couple of miles away that should be the start of murphies, drive over the back of the reef and lok for the dropoffs that where the snapper sit in winter mate.
