Just mount it like this - http://ausfish.com.au/vforum/showthr...ghlight=jetski

Depending on what ski you have you can mount the unit like this - http://www.jetskifishing.co.nz/sites...D%20Border.jpg
or run a roll bar like this - http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...202010/ski.jpg
or on the lid of the glovebox like this - http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...r/IMG_0661.jpg
    and inside - http://jetskifishing.co.nz/sites/jet...h%20cables.jpg

the transducer is best to be done a shoot thru. under the motor. and you can stick it down

    Re: Sounder for jet ski

Someone told me today to ring jet ski placve at virginia.
He charges $250 to fit transducer, wire sounder and supply bracket.
All I have to do is buy sounder and trans but he has them in stock.
He recommended the Lowrance hds5 combo, with transducer at back.
He said he has fitted heaps.
He also said the Lowrance was better waterproofed that the humminbird.
His price for HDS5 $1000, which I thought was ok. I see bias have them for $999.

I asked about through hull an d he said no. Rear trans best.

Anyone elses thoughts would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Re: Sounder for jet ski

just to make sure I was not talking through hull but shoot through.... the advantage of shoot through is when you go up on sand or like there is no transducer to hit and no holes in the hull.

    Re: Sounder for jet ski

I know what u mean by shoot thru. They say u lose between 25-40% of quality because images have to go through hull, also at depth.
Transducer at rear will be fine.. no different than puting on back tinnie.

    Re: Sounder for jet ski

just out of interest when" they" say you lose 25-40% of quality, who is "they"? have "they" tried both? I have run it both ways and the only difference is turning up the gain and you dont lose bottom as much. and the difference between being on the back of a tinny or ski is not many tinnies do 100kph+.
    but your call

The jet ski shop. I thought they would know if they sell ski and fit the sounders. I will investigate further. I to would have thought that you would lose so degree of clarity with through hull.

    Re: Sounder for jet ski

I was talking to the guys that make the fishing gear for jet ski, and am going to put a humminbird bracket on ski and just take sounder from boat and plug into jet ski when needed.

Very happy, cause only got to buy bracket and transducer, $200

    Re: Sounder for jet ski

    sounder fitted. all looks great.
Damium at moreton stainless did good job and price was right.
I ended up putting in the same mount as in boat for the humminbird 788ci and bought a dual beam transducer, which i now have in the boat which gives me side imaging and put the old tranducer from boat on ski.

All i do know is swap the sounder to what craft i will be using.
    All good.

    cheers
