i just bought sd card to download updates and put on my sounder.
I have downloaded onto an SD card and will put this card into spare slot in front of sounder.
Is there anything special that I have to do before I power up unit or do I power up unit and then put in the card.
I have never done this before so just wondering if someone can tell me correct procedure.
I read the manual and says just follow prompts but on computer it says to restore to default first.

Yep I have always restored defaults when I've updated mine, it is recommended both on the official H'bird site and the users' forum.
The latest version, once installed, negates the need apparently.
Read the info on the H'bird site re 'restoring defaults', it is a menu option somewhere.
Good news is it is an easy process.
I upgrade my Humminbird 917 thru it all the time keep an eye on the site as there are more upgrades as the fix faults as they come up. As mate said your sounder/gps will change so nice colours as it goes thru the process.
