I now have have 50 packs of different jig heads how do all u guys keep them sorted?

I'm just running out of room

I have a few of these boxes. It certainly makes the tacklebox heavy though.

I do the same as Wags.
Yep I do the same thing, I have one for estuary, one for bay and one for offshore, i tear the tops off the packs and stick it in with the heads so I know what I need to replace as I run low
yea i spose there is no other way but im getting into kayaking and i have 8 full tackle trays of lures as it is.
off topic but are those jigs all home made?
Just use a good pen (either Nikko or Oil-based marking pen) and mark the outside cover.
Cheers
What Wags said.
I make my own jig heads and my mold has 5 different weights/head sizes.
I have a multi-compartment tray (Plano, I think), and have hook sizes written down one side, and jig head weights along the other.
Granted, I basically only use 2/0-5/0 hook sizes, so I do have some unlabelled compartments with smaller hooks in them.
I've been getting into kayak fishing myself, and definitely take the 'less is more' approach, so I have a couple of really small trays for the yak, one for lures and one for jig heads (and some bags of plastics). My approach, on the yak, is to target a species, ie flathead, and pack accordingly. It's the opposite to the boat, where I'm normally carrying 200+ jigheads and 100+ packets of plastics. On the yak , there's really no other way (in my humble opinion).
Cheers!
Yeh i put them all into compartments and then with a permanent marker on the outside i write what they are (3g 2/0 etc) that way i can just grab the one i know i need straightaway.
Ive recently started kayak fishing, but only fresh, so it makes it alot easier since im targeting pretty much Bass, i just take 1 small tackle box with my Spinnerbaits, Poppers and Crawlers. I keep that in a bag i can strap around me.
Ben
I do the same as wags and right on the bottom in pen what size/weight they are if i forget :d
Hahahaha its good to see I'm not alone. I thought my collection was crazy but I got nothing on some of these guys here!
I keep mine in trays like most but also have them in smaller trays from kincrome with a plastic/rubber inside so they are water tight.
I have had some moisture get in and rust up some jig heads.
Yes mate - this was the start of fingamajigs jigheads. A few of the smaller sizes 1/12oz right up to 2oz 5/0's.
Mike I don't know about feeling good about it, but I can't walk into a tackle store and walk out without buying something.....Is this an addiction? or just planning ahead....
Wags, id like to think its planning ahead, just in case, you might need it one day

I also make my own and keep the reserve stash far away from the boat until needed, in chinese takeaway containers in a cupboard. You can make the mistake of taking all your jigheads with you, and especially if going offshore, no matter how hard you try, like mossy said, salt air gets into them and before you know it your valuable jigheads start looking 2nd rate.
Jigheads that sit around for a long time also lose their luster, which I think may affect their shine/ attractiveness to fish. So I powdercoat them in Protec silver and glow white which are the two main colours, also dragonfly, pink and chartreause. Now whose got an addiction?
