    Advice please guys .

what I would like to know , on a baitcaster style rod , would it hurt the performance of the blank to double over bind , or have a single under bind and single over bind ,I am thinking of cosmetic reasons for doing it .

    trout head,

Many people bang on about how binding whether it be under or double over will effect the action of the rod, this couldn't be further from the truth. In fact the guide foot and frame will in fact dictate what performance lose you will encounter simply due to the fact that its near on imposable to bend a guide foot with your fingers little lone a thin blank. Go and grab a guide and try and bend the feet so it bends like it would on a bent rod, if you can do this I will build the rod for you for free. Some may say the guide feet need only bend a slight amount but the problem is you have more than one guide and so the problem is multiplied. So to answer your question, no it wont hurt the action of the rod if you single or double over bound the rod. I dont double over bind on bait caster rods because the wall is normally small and thin so doing a double can actually collapse the wall from the build up of pressure.
