Had a go at servicing my shimano symetre yesterday with some inox mx6, after greasing it and putting it back together it doesn't feel as smooth, am i using the wrong grease? it feels like the grease isn't holding on to the gears.

Don't use Inox on reels. Use Daiwa blue grease (in the concertina tube) or Shimano TBM-0 grease (yellow container, BNT 2960). Don't use too much - eg apply to only one half of a drive gear. I use a Daiwa needle oiler for bearings and contact surfaces - but I now pack all my line roller bearings with grease to prolog their life.
Hi Strewth, where can i get those greases from and how much do they cost?
Hey Adriene,
You can get both the Daiwa blue grease and oil from most tackle stores, Kmart etc. About $12 for both. I use it too for all my reels and it good stuff.
Hi Adriene
Mate you should only use oil on the brearings and grease on the pinion gear and main drive gear.
Be aware that the small drive gear is oblong and has arrows these arrows need to line up with the arrows on the top of the main gear top plate.

depends on how you service your reels, maybe the bearings is contaminated.smoothness is normally associated with bearings.just a smear of any grease should do the job.no need to get too anal about which brands to go for......anything that have PTFE would be my first choice.good luck!!!!.
Thanks for the tips, i'll keep that in mind when i service my reels.
