Calendar - what is it

Seeing the site looks different although it probably has much the same content as the old site I have started to explore a little more, maybe it is a good thing to change the look after all. I have noticed a "Calendar" and have clicked on a few itemns but am at a loss as to what it is all about. The birthdays I can understand but little else makes sense to me as any entry I select returns very little info ather than the members details, can any body elucidate for me what this is all about.

The calendar is mainly used for birthdays, but you can add events to it if you like. Like fishing comps, meet & greets, etc.
