    South Gold Coast Surf Session

My meeting on the Southside for tonight was cancelled
So I rushed home for a quick session in the surf before dinner .....
Arrived on the beach between Coolangatta and Currumbin somewhere .... been getting heaps of choppers there recently, and saw a salmon come out last week.
The surface was BOILING about 100mtrs out !!
Cast the only slug I had (150gr) in between the boil a few times with no hits
Eventually the boil moved too far out and so i reverted to my tactic of pillies & mullet for Tailor or Jew.
Few minutes later and I was into a solid little fight .... landing a 55cm Schoolie in the surf
[now if I fished with aussie GANGHOOKS I would've been bitten off for sure, but a 4/0 Mustad on 80lb steel did the trick as always]
After that the dolphins arrived and started feeding on the boil - all went dead quiet
10 minutes later and the mother of all winter storms arrived, and I decided that SUNCORP (who brilliantly paid what so many others did not bother to) would not pay out to a fisherman struck by lightening whilst holding a 14ft GRAPHITE "conductor" in his hands
So I packed it up after 4o minutes, but happily I have some tasty fillets waiting for brekki tomorrow!!

G'day Robvee, great to see you got a feed.

I think I've read in previous posts that you use an overhead (correct me if I'm wrong). What rod and reel set up is it?

    Cheers,
    Kaidon
