headed down to the bay, between peel and mud , for first go at bay snapper, landed 2 nice fish about lunch time today. as usual, everyone else around had to come and sit right on us, so upped anchor and headed home.

Hey mate nice snapper what did you catch those on? baits or plastics? cheers
Good catch, they are a great way to open the account.... but with that second photo it has to be said.... QUEENSLANDER!!!!!
more quality bay snapper good stuff. QUEENSLANDER!!!
maybe its just that Queensland spirit. Both caught on whole squid baits floated, and burleyed up heaps and consistently. Perserverence hey.. No luck on plastics, tried and tried. Noted alot of the boast around us were using smaller baits, and heavy weights, i opted for just enough lead to get it down, and squid were prob 8-10 inches long, with large single hook rigs. Simple but efficient. Funny thing was the ignorance of other boaters, i was there, all by myself, on a simple bump, but ended up with about 12 other boats around us, some only 15-20 metres away. And to rub it in, i didnt see another boat land a fish. Suppose if they could use a sounder and some thought, they wouldnt be sitting right on top of me either. It was our first trip to the bay, and generally just sounded til we found a show, and went back to basics, and results speak for themselves i suppose.
