And then you went and fished off a low front platform boat !!! Mad ya bugger. I fished once with a guide at Shady Camp. He stood out of the boat on the little rear pod where the ladder is. Right at water level. Said he had a sixth sense for crocs. Wonder if he is still about lol.
WAS ANOTHER ONE IN THE PAPER 2 DAYS AGO FROM w/a CROC LUNGED OUT THE WATER GRABBED A BLOKE ON THE CHEST UP NEAR BROOME
Probably the most stupid thing I have seen was a guide in Cooktown who took myself and the other clients out and upon realising I was into crocs decided to show us a few saltie nest sites.
This is fine providing you keep your distance. However he decided to pull up on the shore and walk around no more than 1-2 meters from the nest, we even saw a baby croc at the edge of the water amongst reeds. At this point in time I yelled at the dumb $%i& to get back in the boat and move us away from the nest. I felt even more uncomfortable as we were in a 4.5m punt with very low sides, furthermore I have a pretty good knowledge of crocs and what maternal females are like......
His reply: all good mate I know what I am doing......I replied: mate your a good fishing guide but a dumb $%i@ when it comes to crocs. Fishing was great though, numerous Barra, Jacks and Fingermark in the Endeavour.....
You are all scaring the crap outta me!
In a couple of years the bus will be finished & I can just picture poor bear in the 4m hornet travelling Australia.........FISHING SOLO.....Augh!!!..... better pack some spare panties......
lol, just be smart and dont get complacent........
Hi John,
Mate we reckon around 2.5m so over 6ft on closer inspection. Tail alone over a metre.
I've been back home in the NT as well as CQ and NQ mate with work and enjoying life recording some special people and places as usual.
Still lucky to spend time with Rod Harrison & Johnny Mitchell mate, a campfire with those two is like cramming two decades of learning and history into one conversation ha.
Yourself mate how have you been?
Sorry for the late reply,
Cheers Lyndon.
Hi Bronson,
Mate the pics well there were a few out of focus i must admit, but i guess there is a pretty good excuse for that ha...
Cheers Lyndon
Hi GBC, Salad Fingers & Pazz,
Yes a Freshy it was. Although they are not supposed to act like this apparantly.

Hi Billy C,

Thankfully there were No curries the night before.
Cheers Lyndon.

Hi Lyndon,
I guess you could say SSDD, you know same sh## different day, still trying to get over that big opp i had but we are getting there slowly.
Spent a few days at Mondy with Trev in April, it is truly a magnificient water way now, but unfortunately while we were there it was very windy (SE), cold and overcast and the place was dead. I have never seen so much of the dam before we were every where trying to find fish but no luck. The other wildlife is abundant and varied, very much worth just the trip with out thev fishing tackle. Last October i ended up at Faust and we got a large number of smallish barra, the largest was only 92 cm's but they were all on bloody steriods and gave us a good run, will be interesting to see what happens come Spring this year, probably be a lean year on the big fish.
Cheers,
John.
Hi Craig,How are you going mate? The skinny one has taken his fishing to a new level. Taylors and Harro rate him as the best they have seen. Reckon he might beat his 09 record of 565 fishing sessions salt and fresh. Man on a mission that's for sure.Fishing day and night at the moment. Writing, filming and photographing as well as guiding. Doing research with different scientific departments. Smashing huge barra, spanish and as usual mud crabs. Last year was 100lb spanish, 70lb barra and those massive crabs that look like they weigh 3kg plus. You know the ones with the coke-can-claws.He has around 1300 pages logged on barra now including some new tagging data. 1000+ barra logged this year already on his boat and none of those came from the Pike's Crossing.. And that's the tip of the iceberg. That book will be scary when it comes out. Creek to Coast, Qld Tourism, Dave Butfield Hooked TV and filming with Mathew Hayden this week has kept him busy. He sold 120 dvd's yesterday alone, they are flying off the shelves. From wrestling scrub bulls to water mouse hunting he doesn't stop. If you wanna know what those dam barra did once they hit the sea, ask him. Mate we need another campfire to even get close to covering the rest of the fishing evolution which is still alive and cranking in the north, and seems to have taken over from bass in a few areas. The barra boom has luckily given people the chance to meet and learn from nice people who would maybe never have been heard of in the mainstream. There are people down south I know and have watched who are now talking about currents & sound (making sure they use other words to describe it) who I never thought would be talking about anything else other than lures or colour etc. Hope your having fun chasing those salties Crabman.Take it easy,Cheers Lyndon.
Hi Boat Hog,
I'll trade the skidmarks for a couple of good pics, but that was close enough. If this wasn't enough excitement for the day a snake swam across the river and ended up just behind us which had us jumping ha. There were massive Buffalo tracks around so we were hoping we didn't bump into him as we trekked through the grass. Adventure central.
Cheers Lyndon.
