I don't think farmed fish are subjected to the same size restrictions
Chris
Been to a few chinese restaurants lately and have noticed that they have live barra in tanks for purchase that are under the size limit in qld of 58cm.. Is it legal to sell these to eat in the restaurant?
The local petshop has baby barra for sale that i can purchase without any special requirements, can I be fined for being in possesion of undersized fish with these in a tank at home?
Just curious as to how this works?

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

Most farmed barra fillets obviously come off fish that are way undersized.
Its a good question, one I have always wondered about.
If you can prove you bought the fish then it is legal . but keep your receipt to show the money trail . I have barra in a dam that I have reciepts for and I have no closed season or legal size . it gets a bit murky if I was to take one off the property though

IF IT CAN'T EAT A WHOLE PILLY I DON'T WANT IT
Farmed fish have no size limits, thats where they would have come from.
