carp
hey guys as you know i went down to a little spot to rid some carp got down there around 8:00am and the weather was horrible, but not fishing for a few weeks was willing to put up with it. when i first arrived i sat at the top sighting and watching the carps movements before going down to target them. sighted probably 30-40 carp and found where they were coming up to feed. got down and started to burley first bait in and i miss a good fish followed by another 2 good takes before finally hooking and landing a carp of around 2kg. i have found that carp do laps of there feeding grounds and sure enough 20 min later another lot of bites this, this time i managed 4 fish from 4 bites. after having a nice lil session decided to observe the carp a lil longer before heading home before i spooked them. all in all i managed 5 carp with the best being around 4kg and was afun day as i enjoy carp fishing quite a bit.
cheers

Re: carp
I have had a good clean up of carp in my favorite fishing hole over many years.
Just sit up on a high bank over the water and throw pieces of lead at them.
Works a treat.

Re: carp
Stinking things. Good to see some dead ones. What do you use for bait? I have caught a few of them in the Condamine River at Ellengowan Qld a while back and used corn, worms or shrimp. Funny how they love corn.

Re: carp
Nice little session.
despite the average anglers hatred of them, they do put up a good clean fight.

Re: carp
Hey Outdoor Guy.
Been away so didn't see your reply.
Yes I have cleaned up a few, the best way is to wait on the leeward end of a waterhole where the wind blows all the surface debris to one end.
The old carp will feed on the surface with their big gobs open filtering through the rubbish on the top of the water.
Just wait until they are coming towards you and poke a bit of lead straight down their throat.
They don't jump with the back of their head missing.
I know we all should dispose of them in a fire if possible but I can assure you the ones I eliminate will not breed agian.
I will pm. you another story which you may or not believe.

Re: carp
Hi
Years ago we used to fish the rivers of Victoria-- goulburn, Murray etc and boy did you get some monsters. The biggest i can remember was around 10lb.
We used to catch grasshoppers and float them on the surface-- the carp just loved them. Was great fun and we were getting rid of the buggers from the waterways.
Keep up the good work and have fun.
lol

Re: carp
byron_moses,
Good effort, hope to see more of these mongrels gone from the systems.
I seen a programe on landline few years ago that NSW DPI was trialing a method of cooking these as a way to make profit. I know the Europeans go ape over these buggers as they find these carp tasty...For me I like carp as in charlie carp fertiliser...its a shame the yearly carp busters programme is no longer working in Rathdownie way...all thanks to a few idiots that try to sue when they got injured at public places...hence public liability insurance went up so that was the curtains for Charlie Carp...I think Bushies or similar mob had large crushes at the river banks so these buggers can go to good use...in the garden as fertiliser....If only the Queensland Govt could pull their finger out and do a similar programe in Qld..that is...attempt to get rid of these mongrels...if they can employ people to go and attack fire ants then same can be done for carp,,more difficult may be but can do...Maybe the Can Do Man Can but doubt it very much..
