Correct transducer location
Can someone enlighten me on the correct transducer location on a tinny. I mean height wise..at the moment when under way it is showing wavy lines all the time, probably some influence of water with the transducer not being in the correct location I would assume.

Re: Correct transducer location
if you do a check on the net for a user manual for what ever type of Fishfinder you have ,, it usually shows where to put the transducer ,,
also do a search on this web site as i have read lots about transducer positioning on here

Re: Correct transducer location
got a couple of pics , back of transducer will have a split line i put that with a strait edge equal with bottom of hull with a 8-12 degree tilt forward towards bow , you sound like maybe chine interference from hull, look all the way up hull were tranny is placed and make nothing is causing airation

Re: Correct transducer location
I am becoming an expert on where to put transducers on a tinny - and I don't want to be. If you have a Quinnie and a Furuno sounder/airmar transducer, give up right now and get something else. Even then the very small area of clean water between the chines will drive you mad trying to find the sweet spot. I am installing a Garmin 750s at the moment which has a reasonable track record on Quintrex but I reckon I'll need to do some adjusting on the run. Agree with Kitty_kat as a starting point. Newer, digital transducers are much more sensitive and prone to air bubbles.

Re: Correct transducer location
I find it easy to have someone hold a straight edge under the boat and protruding out the back in the desired location, hold the transducer on top of the straight edge and this is where it is to be mounted, most have slotted holes to allow for fine adjustment, but that method works everytime (well it has for me)
