    HDS gps aquire satellite

how long does an HDS gps normally take to aquire the satelite fix for the first time (just after installation)?

does it normally take a while, or is it normally quick?

    cheers

I installed mine as an "in dash" installation about 1 year ago. I am pretty sure the first boot took less than 5 minutes.

Mick, if you have clear sky access ... should be 2-3 mins tops !

Should be more that 20-30secs from start up normally either.

I have seen mine get confused before though (where it wouldn't locate) ... but a reboot got it going again.

Mick, it is really quick, by the time the Unit boots it should have aquired some satellite signals..

In the options you can actually view how many satellites you can see, Page 76 in the HDS8 manual.

ta, its all good now. first time was just a bit slower than expected.

I'm amazed with the screen clarity, and chart detail compared to my other gps
