Re: snapper on sunny coast
Now rather than hit him with a "shame it's such a poor photograph" to a young contributor who's only just joined Ausfish this month (May 2011) don't you reckon it could have been a little more constructive for Riley to have heard from you....
"next time you take a photograph Riley try and face the snapper and yourself into the sunlight, that way you won't get the glare at the top and you'll have some nice colour shown on what it is a good fish"
I mean, you are seasonsed fisho of 10 years on this forum Jeremy, i've seen your good catches and your good photographs, I'm sure you could have added something a little more constructive here to help the young fella rather than knock his attempt at sharing with us his catch... We need new members and we need new posts.

Re: snapper on sunny coast
hi Riley 3,
I have just bought a 12ft tinny and am hoping to head out off Mooloolaba - only a 1km or so. Wondering if you can give me any tips, it's a big ocean out there so not sure where to even start looking. Obviously i'm not asking you to give up your secret spots but maybe head me in the direction where I might have a chance :-) All the gps references I have are for a fair way out. I have locations for rapers shoal - have you been there? I was going to try and float dead bait and also some bottom bashing, cover both methods.
thanks Riley

Just wandering what bait you were using mate? Float line, or bottom basher?

almako about 16m bottom bashing, set up was - hook mono trace about 50-60cm swivel then sinker running to rod .. bait was whole squid 3" long
hanging to get out there again just waiting for the swell to drop abit for the tinny or i should get into finishing my big boat then i wouldn't have to check the forecast all the time
cheers
