Boat Ramp Closed Contarf

this ramp (shorncliffe on sinbad st) was closed on the weekend for some reason. had it closed off. didnt stop some bloke who drove around the barricades and was putting his boat in on saturday morning. Im not sure if its still closed right now. i will take a drive tonight and have a look.

shorncliffe ramp on sinbad street is finally open after resurfacing and drainage works were completed. looks good too. yay! finally open.

The issue is an insidious one.

The organisers are making money from the event (sponsorships, merchandise, etc) just like the triathlons or the bike races do.

The question is do they have the right to run their business and have exclusive rights to a public facility.

My take is they can for a limited time if they are paying rent to the council. If not what’s stopping anyone running a business from using public property.
