How quickly time flies - We've now had our little Haines Signature 485 SF just over 12 months & clocked up over 250 faultless hours on the Suzuki 60





We have had some great fish come over the side in the last year - the 485SF truly is an amazingly versatile little hull

So how does it all perform? Beyond our expectation is the short answer with some great fish coming over the sides already. This hull has been described by many as being “The best, softest riding, driest, most predictable & above all, safest hull under 5 metres “and we can now endorse all of these comments - It really is that good!

Stability is fantastic & you can have two anglers up front without any trouble at all. The extra wide gunnels also make it easy to get around quickly on a fish when needed. The decks are uncluttered with enough storage to keep everything you’ll need for a day’s fishing organised & close at hand. The non-skid glass decks are fantastic for keeping clean. About the only hassle is removing the passenger pedestal seat to access the rod locker, but it’s still good insurance for carrying more rods than we ever really need!

Over all we couldn't be happier with our 485SF / Suzuki 60 combo & suggest you check one out of your looking for an amazingly versatile & economical sport fisher that stacks up against anything on the market today – And it’s proudly Australian made!

Great to see you are still happy scott but then again who wouldnt be ,it would have to be the best in that size catagory but just a little out of my budget so i guess i will have to stick to the smelly old 2 stroke fin for another couple of years . Its a great looking boat scott and obviously has some good fishing karma with it .....Thanks for the update Matt

Would you recommend the glass decks over carpetted? and are you saying you're able to walk the gunwhales to get around?

Also, can you tell me more about the jack plate you have there? what brand/size? I think I'm going to need one on my Haines.

Thank Mick, - no not the power pole, the jacking plate on the main motor. Allows you to adjust motor height to get best performance.

Matt - we'll never had carpet in a boat again - the non-skid glass is so good to keep clean

The Jack Plate is a Bob's though Solas. It is a manual with 5" inch set back. I should have gone hydraulic as you can adjust them while running to get engine height perfect with different loads etc

Mick - We are adding a Lowrance interface lead to the Suzuki next week & networking it with the HDS & LMF 400 gauge so should have accurate details after that. I have been running a EP-60 & get approx 15 litres per hour at 5000 RPM - but hope to have more accurate details with the interface.

Yamp - I can run on the plane in approx 500mm of water & she floats with the engine up in approx 300mm.

Some Prop details taken when testing with Steve from Solas :-

Suzuki aluminium -

11 1/8 x 14 - 4000 @ 13 knots, 4500 @ 18.7 Kts, 5000 @ 22 Kts, 5500 @ 24 kts 6000 @ 27 Kts & 6100 @ 28 kts

Solas s/s

11 3/4 x 15 - 4000 @15 kts , 4500 @ 20 kts,5000 @ kts , 5500 @ 26 kts & 5950 @ 29.2 knots　

The 15p was a tad slow to get to plane speed but did perform best at a lighter load.

Taking the boat down to Brisbane this weekend to catch up with Wayne at Mobile Marine Fit Outs to install a Lowrance engine Interface cable so we can get more accurate fuel figures & adding a HDS5m GPS so I can run the HDS 8 purely for side/down scanning while running
