Hi all, i was headin out nudgee creek over the weekend for a fish and saw the fleet of tinnies casting for prawns. i diverted and had a go and we caught a good mix of bait and banans for dinner and the freezer. heaps of fun and very productive. From what i read there is a limited window for these sessions as the prawns move through the bay, so i got to wondering, how do you know when they are there and when not?
Is it s tidal thing, moon thing, morning / evening thing?
can anyone shed some light on just how one would know when is a good time to head out and cast for them?
Thanks.
I only prawn around the southern bay islands, but imagine the logic would be the same. Smaller tides, and around tide changes is generally a better time to find them. Concentrate on deeper holes in those tide times and you should do okay.
