Need backpack for out bush, which one?
I'm heading bush in a few weeks with a bunch of strangers in a hire 4x4. We are taking our own camp each, so my swag and hoochie, then clothes and toiletries. I need a backpack/bag that will carry all of my life bar the swag, or even fit my swag on top (I have a strong back LOL ).
What do people use that is light, tough, waterproof, and perhaps has its own hydration pouch, and enough pockets to have easy access to different bits as I need then? But not need a second 4x4 to carry it as space is of a premium.

Just use a small day pack for day walks and a normal soft bag for leaving in the 4wd. I've assumed you are not overnighting with the backpack and will be camping next to the 4wd. Cheap will be OK for a daypack just try it out for comfort. Personally I find hydration ones a bit of a wank unless your are running or doing it as a timed orienteering treck.
4 people camping in a 4wd and all taking seperate stuff?? Don't know how remote or unservices you are going but think about fuel and water. Hope you have a roof rack and a roof bag or pod as space will disappear very fast.
If one of the blokes is called Millat I'd give it a miss and if they are all swedish and female give me a call

So no walking? I used to do a lot of hiking. Have a macpac that is a good 10 year old and still going. Not sure what they are like today, but back in the day they were the duck nuts. I have a 75l pack and used to walk all day with a fair load. I could live out of it for near on 10 days with no extra provisions.
However, the macpac is not cheap. Mine cost something like $400 10 year ago, so I would be scared to look at the price now.
PS, I never used to carry a swag, to heavy. Self inflating 3/4 matress and synthetic sleeping bag. Dont forget an inflatable pillow.
