Re: Garmin Echo 550c
I had a look at one on saturday morning, looks good for th price, I was told (by the salesman) that it is just the "old" 550 in a new case, if that is correct, then it will be a good unit.

Re: Garmin Echo 550c
I have looked at the specs and they only offer a dual beam 200/77hz ,15'/45' cone angle at 3db.Then they say 60'/120' cone angle.I'm confused. How does this transducer differ from a 50/200hz dual frequency,as I am looking to upgrade from a 400c Garmin.

Re: Garmin Echo 550c
Handbook says screen has an Anti-reflective coating and is sensitive to skin oils, waxes and abrasives and should be cleaned with an eyeglass lens cleaner. The unit doesn't come with a cover so will get salt spray and the odd finger mark on it if not covered with a plastic bag or similar during use or after removal, a big minus in my opinion.
There is also no flush mount gasket, template or fittings supplied.
The unit is also a bit difficult to locate into the supplied tilt / swivel mount as the connections to power and transducer are a bit flimsy and are just pushed into the mount, they are supposed to line up and push into the main unit when mounting, doubt if they will stand up to much fitting and removal of the unit. My old Navman had a twist lock on the cable connectors and was much more robust.
