    Cape York June 2011

    Hi all,

    My wait is nearly over!!

Less than 5 weeks to go, I am hoping the weather settles and roads open up....

Anybody have ideas/thoughts on long range weather forecasts, and how long the rivers take to subside in relation to the Cape??

Myself, two very good freinds from work and my Dad will be driving up in my 2002 Nissan Patrol. The plan is to take turns in driving, and go from Brissy to Archer River straight through, stay over night then tackle the rest of the trip to Seisia the next day.

We are staying at Bully's Fishing camp for 14 nights. On day 2 we are going on a charter trip in to the Jacky Jacky with Tim Freebody from Capeyork Custom Sportfishing. (Check out an awesome vid on YouTube for what he has to offer)

Then hiring a combination of Cherryl and Roberts boats for 10 days... Two 14 ft tinnies for the Jacky Jacky hopefully to land Barra, Jacks, Cod, GT's, Queenies, and Fingermark.... (Hopefully)

And the 18ft centre console for some work out the front on Macks,Emporer, Trout, GT's, Spangles etc... (again Hopefully)

On the trip home we will be stopping in at twin/ fruitbat falls for a night, then down to Lucinda to fish the Hinchinbrook channel for a couple of days before the drive back to Brissy.

I will hopefully have some pics and a decent video to share on my return.

Any thoughts on my long awaited trip, and prayers for an abundance of fish will be appreciated

    Cheers BB

Sounds like a great trip Bay Bruiser, I'd be pissin myself in anticipation if I were in your seat.

I predict (and it is just a prediction) that based on similar weather patterns from the previous years- big wet and very dry winter. Three big wets in a row and the past 2 winters have been very dry so I think your trip up there should be fine wrt road conditions.
On the down side, this time of the year is trade wind time and last year it blew it's arse off with 30kn SouEasters for most of the winter period. So your creek options are fine and by the sounds you have a bit of time up there so you can afford to pick your days to go outside. Luckily the big spaniards will be in close at this time of the year so you should have no trouble chasing them in an 18ft boat- might just have to put up with some crappy chop. That said the weather is a fickle bitch and some of our best days in NQ are in winter so fingers Xd you get a few of them. Good luck.

You will absolutely have a ball.fish 3 days before and after the quarter moon, the rest of the time there is too much run.Head south from Seisia to Muttee Head,to three big bommies, you should fill up with Fingermark(They are marked on Bobs GPS).Ummmm 14 days, you wouldnt have room for one more would you.A wonderfull place for experiences and memories to last a lifetime.
If you get a chance put a report up when you get home.
