WWF tour to Monster Murray Cod , Easter 2011

Ventured off early Friday morning...had the obligatory breakfast at Warwick and continued down the highway, eager to arrive to peace and solitude for 4 days.
Mr and Mrs Aigutso arrived on friday arvo and lo and behold the WWF (Worlds Worst Fishermen) now have our own logosand caps courtesy of Aigusto.

Now..to the fishing..well, how do I feel now. I got out my spinner baot box:

then Aigusto gets his out..well, I concede defeat..you cannot match a tackle junkie:

some of his lures are amazing. I thought this lil bloke was about to talk to us:

Saturday morning. I woke early and decided to go for a troll around the dam. First pass along the far wall and yippee!!!..a hook up..bugger..just a pup about 65cm. Oh well, at least a good start to the weekend. Alas there were no others to follow.

The serenity of the place and the dams are fantastic.

    some funny moments:

Sunday morning idiot me decides I will go for another lap of the dam in the tinnie.. Push the boat out with an almighty heave ..move down the back..turn the handle on the electric..nothing. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, methinks..not good..no paddles in boat and motor does not go..everyone else is still asleep. A quick wriggle of the battery terminals and the motor goes. WHEW!!!!!

Aigutso decides to go out in the boat later in the day..pushes off and oops..must remember to put rods in boat first..rod and lures all tangled in the weeds.

He did finally get out and did some fishing but alas to no avail.

There was plenty of beverages consumed on the weekend and lots of food also...recommend the Tatts pub in Emmaville for the best burger around for miles.

The funniets moment of the weekend..Mike was fishing from a small area just near the cabin..tossing lure after lure and nothing happening..then..as he was winding in..a cod attacked the lure almost at Mike's feet..cod was in the air a bit...Mike had a huge adrenalin rush..I don't think he stopped shaking for about 2 hours. For the remainder of the weeknd Mike bombarded that area with almost every type of lure known to mankind but the fish had the last laugh and was not to be seen again.
We have now named that little place: Aigutso Corner.

IN summary..fantastic weekend away from it all..fantastic company and cannot wait to do it again..the WWF will turn up somewhere again and the fish will be safe.

Just got back, great weekend with the Pinheads, spending 4 days down at Monster Murray Cod away from the crowds, as usual it was magic as was the company, with plenty of laughs, food and wine.

This time WWF fished harder than it usually does and we didnt disappoint, but somehow Pinhead trolling got the only fish, a nice healthy cod in the mid sixties, see pic,

I still have never caught a Murray Cod, this time I almost got one, some big monster one eyed cod tried to take my surface popper off me about 5 feet from me on the bank, literally scared the crap out of me, i retired for the night and had to have a few wines to calm the nerves. Couldnt believe the power of a big cod when they smash surface lures at your feet,

As Greg said, after that i threw the kitchen sink at 'Fred' for the next 3 days working on the theory of annoying him, he had the last laugh for this round, but i will be back to have another crack.

Of note was the Anzac Parade and service at Emmaville, it was one of the most personal ones i have ever had the privilege of witnessing, also as Pinhead said, the tatts Pub is highly recommended.

Bec and I had a wonderful break with great company and 'Fred' will not know whats hit him next time,
    Tangles KFC

Great stuff Greg. Beautiful country isn't it. I head off to Emmaville on Sunday to house-sit a property for a week. Fingers crossed I will have some cod pics to put up.
