Lowrance sounder problem

Well, it might be time to upgrade the LCX 104c, the other day I got ready to go out and did the customary checks of the electrics before leaving home.
turned on the sounder and only got a blip of light then nothing, tryed agin and got the same, checked all conections and checked voltage to head unit, I had 12v to the back of the unit but still only got blips then nothing. Has anyone experienced the same, the unit is now 7 years old, is that game over? I supose I should take it somewhere to see if it is repairable.
does anyone know if I upgrade to a HDS10 is my 1kw transducer compatable.

Sounds like its r00ted mate, had an old x107cdf do the same. Transducer could be tricky ay
