    Trolling around Gold Coast canals/broadwater

    Hey everyone,

I recently fixed up my little outboard and was thinking about trolling around the Nerang River and surrounding canals (and possibly broadwater?), however I haven't had much experience with this and was after a few tips.

I have lures and all the gear I need the main thing I was wondering about is what areas are worth trying?

Is it better to stick to the main river further down towards the broadwater, or are there canal areas that are good as well?

I know winter species will begin to become more common this time of year so I was wondering if it is worth trying for bream, tailor etc.?

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Cheers,

    Max

Mate there are miles and miles of good canal habitat out there, and who knws what you might catch.

We know there are bream, catfish, eels, whiting, flathead, mangrove jack....... bullsharks in there.

    gota be worth a go.

    cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.

I took the missus for a troll on Sunday mid morning targeting flatties up the Nerang river. I managed to peg a 53cm and the missus got a 36cm, both on Micro Mullet hard bodies.

We didn't hit the water until about 9:30am, would have loved to be out there at dawn but the missus pulled up a bit rough from a day at the races lol. Might give it a go next weekend again to see what else we can score, depending on the offshore forecasts = )

I've never once been at work, capsized in a 40 degree water, watched all my co-workers die, and be like, "Hey, at least we're fuc#ing fishing"
