    eye splice in double braid

    if anyone knows how to or knows someone who can eye splice spectra double braid,and lives on the gold coast ,could you please shoot me a pm ,after trying three different methods, tooooo many times without success i need help,the way im going my 200m spool of rope will end up being 50m,cheers dave

    have you tried to get instructions online. Thats where I started as i had never done it before. Now its a piece of cake

    If it is the hollow spectra, Just go through and back and then up the guts.No need for the special tools. There is plenty on the net.

    thanks guys ,yes ive got instructions online and watched countless videos,my 8mm spectra isnt hollow,its two ropes in one,i get it almost finished but just at the end when im pulling it tight around the ss eye the outer sleeve ends up loose,i need professional help ,dont want to risk it.

    Mate the trick with the eye....or thimble is to start one tuck shorter and then loosen the splice off put the thimble back in and pull tight.

    Dave, Have you spoken to GC trawler suplies. They should be able to put you in touch with a pro splicer...

    Find a yacht rigger, they can sort you. Sometimes the chandlers have riggers in house.

    Double braid spectra needs to be stiched from memory.

    The easy way to do is a single half hitch around the thimble then whip it. Thats all I do.
