perfect conditions lately on the Hastings River Port Macquarie. Full moon with high tide 1 hour after dark. Bait fish getting smashed all around us by tailor, squid baits out. joshua's reel screamed with a sustained run. Light drag so we dont drop anything good. A while later turned on torch to look at his reel "bugger" 20-30 mtrs left, tightened up drag fish turned, now buggered it came back up river to us. 10 minutes later fish at boat, few dives under the boat and the boy did well avoiding a line strike. The most nervous gaff shot by dad in his life saw a good jaw hook up and get the bugger into the boat. Unbelievable site seeing this beautiful creature on the floor of the boat. Many back slaps and hand shakes. Special memory just created. ended up 1.35 mtrs long and 17 kg. Not bad for a first jew fish, even better on the BBQ next day. [ATTACH]Attachment 66675[/ATTACH]
